MODELLING WAVE-STRUCTURE INTERACTION WITH A NEW COMPRESSIBLE TWO-PHASE FLOW SOLVER

نویسندگان

چکیده

This contribution presents and investigates the effects of air entrainment compressibility on shape magnitude wave impacts occurring at crown walls top sea defenses. To this purpose, a new solver, developed in OpenFoam environment to represent interactions with impermeable porous coastal structures, accounting for fluid compressibility, is checked against recent laboratory tests overtopping impacts. By comparing first results code ones obtained native solver dealing incompressible fluids exclusively, significant advances representation pressure signals peaks seem be achieved.

On the Wave Structure of Two-Phase Flow Models

We explore the relationship between two common two-phase flow models, usually denoted as the two-fluid and drift-flux models. They differ in their mathematical description of momentum transfer between the phases. In this paper we provide a framework in which these two model formulations are unified. The drift-flux model employs a mixture momentum equation and treats interphasic momentum exchang...

A Study of Detonation Evolution and Structure for a Model of Compressible Two-Phase Reactive Flow

A two-phase model of heterogeneous explosives, due to Baer and Nunziato, is examined computationally by a new numerical approach that is a modification of the standard Godunov scheme. The approach generates well-resolved and accurate solutions economically, and treats rationally the nozzling terms that render the otherwise hyperbolic model incapable of a conservative representation. A broad ran...

A Schur Complement Method for Compressible Two-Phase Flow Models

Abstract In this paper, we will report our recent efforts to apply a Schur complement method for nonlinear hyperbolic problems. We use the finite volume method and an implicit version of the Roe approximate Riemann solver. With the interface variable introduced in [4] in the context of single phase flows, we are able to simulate twofluid models ([12]) with various schemes such as upwind, center...

Central Upwind Scheme for a Compressible Two-Phase Flow Model

In this article, a compressible two-phase reduced five-equation flow model is numerically investigated. The model is non-conservative and the governing equations consist of two equations describing the conservation of mass, one for overall momentum and one for total energy. The fifth equation is the energy equation for one of the two phases and it includes source term on the right-hand side whi...

A multi-material flow solver for high speed compressible flows

This paper describes a three-dimensional Eulerian-Lagrangian method for the modeling and simulation of high-speed multi-material dynamics. The equations for conservation of mass, momentum, and energy are solved on a fixed Cartesian grid using a fully conservative higher order MUSCL scheme. The dilatational response of each material is handled using a suitable equation of state. The embedded int...
